Meet Rey-Adoption Pending

That Rey may be the last Jedi, but our Rey is definitely not the last GSD. Luckly, they both got fostered and mentored by the best in the biz, so we are confident our Rey will be much more likeable than that Rey. A healthy 92 pounds and proficient in GSD kisses, our Rey is as loveable as they come. He is doing well with his current foster siblings and plays friends both of equal size and smaller. A master of concentration, he knows standard commands like sit, paw, stay, and come, has learned that walking is for leash time and zoomies are for yard time. He enjoys sleeping in his own bed, especially when that bed is on the floor next to your bed. He would like to go to a home with a sibling of equal size and activity level (Jedi's do travel in pairs, after all) but he says that's not a deal breaker. He could be an only dog as long as you play with him and give him alllll the attention.

In the immortal words of Yoda, "Do or do not. There is no try."  Do fill out your application for Rey today!

Named for the Goddess of War and Wisdom, our little lover greatly prefers the pen to the sword even when discussing her unfortunate origin story. Surrounded by dirt and rocks with no way to seek shelter and no warm beyond that which her tiny body made on its own, Athena shivered and pulled her tail in closer. Unsure of the last time she had fresh food or water, she did her best to ignore the growling in her tiny, empty belly. Growing increasingly lethargic from the heartworms infesting her body, our tiny heroine feel into a restless slumber as the unseasonably cold Georgia winter night wore on. She startled away as the warmth of a human hand gently shook her awake and loaded her into a loud moving box. The moving box was so, so warm and before she knew it, Athena was asleep once again. She awoke when the moving box stopped. The human helped her out of the car and her leash to a pole, rubbed her head a little, got back in the moving box, and left. Unsure of what to do next, Athena curled into her self and prepared to weather the cold night once again. But this time would be different, for Samaritans were about.

Now in rescue with GSDRGA, Athena is re-writing her story. No more sad outside puppy. At approximately a year and a half old, Athena is ready to give all her love to her forever family. She is currently living with the family who found her while she finishes heartworm treatment, but once that's over, this little goddess is going to rule the world. She's already mastered potty training and is working on standard commands and loose leash walking. She knows that she'll never be hungry again and doesn't even bother to guard her resources. She trusts there will always be enough. She loves her human siblings and neighborhood canine playmates, but she's not entirely sure about chickens (and thus cats or other small animals). She has asked us to find her a home with an active family with middle school or older children that LOVES to cuddle. Like, LOVES it. She firmly believes she is part blanket. She would be totally fine having a sibling of equal size and activity level or keeping all the cuddles for herself.

Are you ready to write the next chapter of Athena's origin story?

Meet Athena

Meet Maggie

Princess Margaret brought allllll the drama to the Royal Family. Affairs! Crowns in bath tubs! Mags didn’t just bring just biscuits to afternoon tea - girlie brought the stories, too! Thankfully our Maggie is more like the former Queen than her fame loving sister. Our Maggie is a gentle soul who yearns to find a moderately active forever home with a soft couch for quiet snuggles, a yard for rolling and frolicking, and maybe a submissive sibling similar in size and activity level. A mouthy player, Maggie would prefer human siblings old enough to understand the difference between mouthing and biting and help train her accordingly. At 4 years young, she’s still got that puppy feeling and loves learning new stuff. Mags recently had hip surgery, but she's fully healed, including completion of physical therapy, and ready to make her royal entrance into the perfect home. A true lady, she takes treats gently, respects cats and smaller animals, and even minds her manners in painful situations. She maybe shy around new friends at first - human or animal - but warms up quickly. She loves all her toys - and all your toys - but they are to be loved and treasured, not destroyed. She is a lady! Are you ready to add some fun and frolicking to your manor?

Meet Royal - Adoption Pending

If you’re looking for a loyal working dog, Royal is your guy. GSD to his core Royal is ready and willing to work work work. He wants a job yesterday. At 1 year old he is ready to learn whatever you throw at him and then some. After spending some time in a random field Royal quickly learned to “dog” and took to his doggie door quickly but he’s still grasping that house living means steady meals and water (no need to  counter surf for scraps or dig water holes in the yard). A solid routine and job tasks will greatly help with this. Given his strong work ethic Royal would prefer to be an only dog. He’s open to a submissive sibling of equal size and energy level but they’ll need to be ok with him assuming the alpha position and ready to play-wrestle at a moments notice (ideally every moment he’s not working). He wouldn’t mind older human siblings willing to throw balls/frisbees and take him for hikes but his exuberance makes him too much for little kids.

Updates on New Rescue Dogs

We have several dogs in our foster network. These dogs will not appear on our site until their health problems are resolved. Foster parents are also still learning their personalities. Foster parents determine when a dog is ready for adoption.
